8 Ways Spring Cleaning Will Boost Your Spirits
With the promise of spring arriving soon, many find themselves ready to dig out from everything that has accumulated throughout the winter. It can be a daunting task but keep these eight simple things in mind during your spring cleaning and it is bound to help keep your spirits bright!
1. It means winter is almost over
Tired of all the snow, ice and cold? Well fret no more because spring cleaning comes with the promise of less wintry days. Clean up the muck and grime from all of those snowy days and you won’t have to worry about it until next year!
2. Give to others
Have a lot of clothes that are just sitting in your closet not being worn? Now is a great time to go through them, and if you haven’t worn them in a year, you probably won’t ever wear them. Take them to a local shelter or re-sale store and help someone in need that will put the clothes to good use.
3. Make it fun!
Turn some music on and/or make a game of it. If you have children this is a great way to get them involved without it seeming like a chore. Once you have your favorite tunes playing, your mind will focus more on the music and the task won’t seem so daunting.
4. Pinterest is your best friend
Remember all of those cleaning tips you pinned on your board for safe keeping? Now is the perfect time to test them out! Don’t feel like you have to use all of them this year…there’s always next year!
5. Get rid of the past
A lot of us still have things from years ago as a way to remember someone or a special event. Ask yourself if it’s serving a purpose. When was the last time you looked at it or thought about it? If you do not know the answer to this question or if it’s not serving a purpose, it is best to let it go and move on. This will allow you to focus on the present, as well as the future, without the unnecessary burden and weight from the past. It will also clear up space and allow for new things to go there!
6. Clean as a whistle
Your home (or office) will be sparkling after its deep cleaning. You’ll be able to get to places that your normal cleaning routine doesn’t usually include, like that really high shelf you can only get to with a ladder, or the area behind your sofa.
7. Relieve yourself of stress
By removing clutter from your life, in your home, at work, etc., a person is able to feel more relaxed and free. This leads to a decreased sense of stress, which leads to a healthier life! Nothing is worse than constantly feeling stressed – it raises your blood pressure, makes your hormones work on overload and puts an unnecessary workload on your heart.
8. Pure satisfaction
After completing your spring cleaning, you will feel fantastic! Everything will be clean, it will feel like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders because of the things you have cleared out during your purge and you’ll have the fresh, clean environment of your surroundings!
